After reading Clare’s interesting post on 2007 World University Rankings,
Malaysian varsities fail to make top 200 ranking
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian universities are on a slippery slope. None of them made it to the top 200 placing in the Times Higher Education Supplement (THES)-Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings this year.

I sat down quietly. Thinking about what they had said and I came out with this:
“Frogs under the coconut shell”
(Katak di bawah tempurung)
Yeah, that’s the phrase appeared in my mind. Chinese call it “A frog in a well” ( 井底之蛙 ). We don’t see any changes to all those narrow minded mental even after sending the first ever Astronaut (space tourist?!) to space!
Well, time to open your mind and try to understand what Mao Tse-Tung (Chinese statesman, the key figure in China in the 20th century, 1893-1976) said, “We think too small, like the frog at the bottom of the well. He thinks the sky is only as big as the top of the well. If he surfaced, he would have an entirely different view.”

i’m dissappointed with our public uni…seems like they oni NATO all the time, no improvement at all!

Agree with keeyit! I got 9As for SPM but was denied all access to government university and scholarships but was really pissed until my pants also dropped when I heard that got ‘those people’ who scored 3As also can get scholarship to study in USA!!!
Sending a tourist to space does not open their perspective to the world outside their coconut shell. They have to be there themselves to experience it. But I don’t think that it is a good idea to waste more of our money. They are rich enough, I think they can travel to space with no problem. Hahahah!!!
I think I have to set another path in my life to get out of the misery in this country. Maybe the grass is greener on the other side? But, let me get back to my books first…heheheh!!! Got exam tomorrow.
Oh, they dun check how many As you have, instead, they use how many Cs scale, *vomit blood*, not only your time, my time also!
go read kenny’s blog monkey.. i guess u must have read it by now… we cant make it to top 200, its because even our own minister cannot speak proper english!
i believe most malaysian lecturers cannot speak good english.. especially those malay lecturers…
No offence to malays or wat so ever..
But when i was in high school, all my malay teachers cannot speak english well…
We hope there are some changes to rectify the standard, if not, never go up again … sigh …
